The Rockford abortion facility has announced plans to begin offering surgical abortions through 17 weeks of pregnancy by the end of the year. These procedures can involve dismembering the unborn child in the womb.
Think about the little lives at stake. At 17 weeks of pregnancy:
The baby's heart is beating and pumping blood.
Tiny arms and legs move, stretch, kick, and turn.
Little hands and fingers move, and the baby can make small fists.
The brain is rapidly developing, with billions of living cells.
The skeleton is growing stronger as bone replaces cartilage.
The baby practices swallowing, and the kidneys are producing urine.
Unique fingerprints are developing, along with a fine covering of hair.
These are not merely statistics. These are our brothers and sisters in the womb—living human beings, each created in the image of God and worthy of love and protection.
As Christians, we cannot remain indifferent to what is happening in our community. We are called to pray, to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, and to offer mothers facing difficult circumstances the practical help and compassionate support they deserve.
That is why our monthly Pro-Life Rally matters. Our peaceful presence is a public witness that every human life has inherent dignity, and that Rockford should be a community where both mothers and their children are welcomed and supported.
