Help Us Proclaim the Gospel of Life in Illinois
According to recent reports, 87,210 abortions were performed in Illinois in 2025, including both chemical and surgical abortions. Approximately 32,490 of these abortions involved Illinois residents, while many others involved women traveling to Illinois from surrounding states.
Illinois has increasingly become a destination for abortion in the Midwest. Rather than seeking ways to protect mothers and children, political leaders in our state continue to promote policies that expand abortion and increase taxpayer funding for it.
During the recent public rally in Rockford, members of the Rockford Family Initiative spoke with individuals about the humanity of the child in the womb. One theme became very clear: many people simply do not understand the basic scientific facts about human development before birth. Confusion about biology, embryology, and prenatal development is widespread, and many people have never encountered clear information showing how a child develops in the womb.
Because of this, the Rockford Family Initiative is expanding our educational outreach efforts. We plan to develop and distribute:
• Large educational signs illustrating human development in the womb
• Informational brochures explaining prenatal development
• Postcards presenting scientific facts about the beginning of human life
These materials will help communicate an essential truth: every child in the womb is a member of the human family and deserves love and protection.
What can we do when we live in a state that elects political leaders who support the deaths of tens of thousands of children in the womb?
St. John of the Cross reminds us why we are here and what we are called to do:
“Endeavor to be inclined always: not to the easiest, but to the most difficult;
not to the most delightful, but to the most distasteful;
not to the most gratifying, but to the less pleasant;
not to what means rest for you, but to hard work;
not to the consoling, but to the unconsoling;
not to the most, but to the least;
not to the highest and most precious, but to the lowest and most despised;
not to wanting something, but to wanting nothing.
Do not go about looking for the best of temporal things, but for the worst, and,
for Christ, desire to enter into complete nakedness, emptiness, and poverty in everything in the world.”
With faith in our Resurrected Lord, let us continue to proclaim the Gospel of Life with courage, charity, and trust in Jesus Christ.
