Press Release: Public Prayer Vigil to Overturn Roe v. Wade planned for December 1st in Rockford
ROCKFORD, IL., November 17, 2021 – A public prayer vigil to overturn Roe v. Wade will take place on December 1, 2021 at Noon at the Stanley J. Roszkowski United States Federal Courthouse at 327 South Church Street. The rally will be held on the same day that the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case – the case that could overturn Roe v Wade.
Pro-lifers around the country have been working and praying for this moment when a case would be before the Supreme Court that could result in abortion being illegal in several states.
The rally is being organized by the Rockford Family Initiative. "We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of babies in the womb, and we are joining pro-lifers around the country in praying and rallying for the right decision to be made in this case," said Kevin Rilott, President of Rockford Family Initiative. "Abortion takes a human life, and we will be standing up together to express our love for God and all of his children," Rilott continued.
Illinois is considered an “abortion capital” in the U.S., and in May 2019 the IL General Assembly passed one of the most pro-abortion laws in the country. This law declared that a baby in the womb does not have independent rights and that women have a fundamental “right” to abortion.
The prayer vigil will consist of the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the Stations of the Cross, among other prayers. It will begin at 12:00PM and end at 1:00PM.
